The Sport and Physical Activity Partnership for London

Physical Activity and Health

Physical Activity and Health

The benefits of regular physical activity for your health are well known, changing behaviours and lifestyles remains the key challenge.

London Sport works in partnership with people leading on physical activity in the local authorities and Public Health teams, along with delivery and strategic partners such as leisure trusts, London Legacy Development Corporation and University of East London to collaboratively drive this agenda and help improve the lives of people in East London.

London Physical Activity for Health Network

The London Physical Activity for Health Network helps to drive policy, share good practice, update on the latest developments, welcome external presenters on health and physical activity topics and look at ways of working collaboratively.

St Mary’s Centre for Workplace and Community Health Team administer the network meetings. The network meets quarterly - contact Jennifer Johnson for network queries and future meeting management: Jennifer.johnson@smuc.ac.uk

Tackling Sedentary Behaviour Task Group

The group brings together people leading on physical activity in the local authorities and Public Health teams, along with delivery and strategic partners such as GLL and activeNewham, LLDC and UEL.

The group has three objectives: to act as a network to share information and best practice about tackling sedentary behaviour in the Growth Boroughs; to identify shared approaches to supporting behaviour change and environmental change to reduce sedentary behaviour; to identify collaborations to reduce sedentary behaviour and lever in joint funding and resources where possible and appropriate.

The group is convened jointly between the Growth Boroughs Unit and London Sport and will agree its meeting frequency.
